Col (ret)  Bob DeSousa, State Director, US Senator Pat Toomey

 Robert J. DeSousa has had a long and career in public service in Pennsylvania. He is the State director for U S Senator Pat Toomey.  Senator Toomey is a Senate leader on Veteran’s issues. Mr. DeSousa retired as a Colonel in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where he served as the State Judge Advocate for the Pennsylvania.  Upon retirement, he was promoted to Brigadier General on the Retired List of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard,.    He is a past State Judge Advocate, Department of Pennsylvania VFW and is the Post Judge Advocate, Post 9639, Shellsville, PA.  Bob has served as a private attorney and as a businessman in the Harrisburg area.  He has been a Federal Law Clerk in Williamsport, PA, an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Scranton and Lewisburg, PA and served as the Chief Counsel for Pennsylvania’s Department of State.  He was the Inspector General of the Commonwealth under Governor Tom Ridge.  Colonel DeSousa also is the Former National President of the Federal Bar Association and the Past Chairman of the Board of the National Civil War Museum and was on the New Birth of Freedom, BSA Executive Board.   He currently serves on the Boards of Manor College, the Army Heritage and Education Foundation and the Widener Commonwealth Law School Board of Veteran Visitors.   Colonel DeSousa received his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA and his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and numerous other Federal and State decorations.  He is a member of the Catholic War Veterans, the American Legion, the Military Officers Association, the Association of the United States Army and the Association of the 28th Division. He and his wife Elizabeth live  in Harrisburg, PA.
