Eshleman-Pankake-Wolf VFW Post 9639 is named for three service members from the local area who paid the ultimate price in the service to their nation in World War I. In many respects we cannot honor or venerate their sacrifice more than these humble men already have, yet it is our duty to do so. Our brothers-in-arms (and sisters) who have fought and died on foreign soil deserve recognition for their sacrifice. This we try to do in all that we do.
VFW Post 9639 is an active and prosperous organization. Have you heard that we closed our Canteen ("bar")? That is correct, we did indeed close the bar and sold the old post home. Sadly, it was a necessary financial decision. It is and was a decision we did not take lightly.
But the VFW is much more than just a place for veterans to gather and hoist a few cold ones. No, the real purpose of the VFW, and Post 9639, is to be a resource for our Veterans and our community. This we continue to do. We strive to honor those who have gone before us by helping veterans and families of veterans in need, serving our community, and honoring our dead. If you would like to join us, simply ask. We meet the fourth Thursday of every month at 1900 Hours, at 376 N. Crawford - just around the corner from the old Post Home! (next door to our Picnic Grounds) If you are a member, just come out, if you qualify for membership, we'd love to have you join us!
