The objective of the VFW is to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead and to assist their widows and orphans.
VFW Post 9639 participates in the distribution of Buddy Poppies in support of our veteran brothers and sisters, during Memorial and Veterans Day weekends. Wear your Buddy Poppy with PRIDE, knowing that you helped brighten the life of veterans in need!
VFW Post 9639 honors the memory of worthy comrades of all our nations wars. Annually we place flags on the graves of those who have died and honor our comrades with a prayer and ceremony at local cemeteries. Join us in this celebration, if you enjoy your freedom, Thank a Vet!
Veterans Day is a day set aside to celebrate the selfless service of all of our nations service men and women. Once this nation had a national service draft, today our military is an all volunteer force. Draftee or volunteer, we honor your service!
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. Twenty veterans are lost to suicide every day in the U.S. and almost one per day in Pennsylvania. Help is available, if you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, or other issues, we know people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group. Post 9639 may not have a Canteen, but we do the hard work of helping veterans and serving our community every day. Join us, help us make a difference!

WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Kosovo, War in Afghanistan, War in Iraq, War on Global Terror and other Peace-Keeping Expeditionary Campaigns throughout the globe.
The willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
